Nicknamed: "Purgatory" as it's a barren, blasted
landscape you could be forgiven for thinking stood
before the gates of Hell.
Description of Site: Large Quarry Site. Challenging
terrain, potentially very damaging. Lots and lots of
rocks / boulders!!.

Leave M62 at Milnrow,
Junction 21 and follow A640 Northbound to Rochdale
Take A671 out of Rochdale until you get to Whitworth
village
Turn left onto Tong Lane. (Care - road is quite narrow
from here on in. Nearly there though!). If you get there
early, stay on the main road till 9.00am as the site
owners have a noise agreement with the resident on Tong
Lane and we don't want to lose the site because of
residents complaints.
Proceed straight onwards onto Tong End and then Back Cowm Lane
Fork Right onto Barn lane and follow onto High Barn
Lane. If your using the Satnav postcode , STOP NOW or
it'll take you up the unmade track to the farm. Keep
left and the entrance is large steel gates on right
leading into the quarry. (There's usually toilets and a
butty van in the parking area if you've left home in a
rush!). Also watch out for low flying dirt bikes. They
have the site as well!
